I arrived at the church office to find a pile of letters from the second graders whose first confessions I heard last week. Here’s one:
Dear Father Longenecker, Thank you for helping me in first confession. You fill my heart with joy. God bless you. Amen. Love, Joey.
The feeling’s mutual Joey.
Oh my goodness. What a great letter!
Absolutely precious
I love these letters as a seminarian. Every now and again, I receive a stack from a Religious Education class. They always make my day, but I’m not as great at responding to them as I should be.The best one I ever received went something like:”What is the seminary like? Are you studying to be a diekon? Are you mis-bee-haiving?”Always, little guy. Always.
