Words unspoken
sound loudest for those who hear
with the inward ear.
A smile unbroken
by kindness is known
to maim, wound and kill.
For those who feel,
it’s a cut to the bone.
When one smiles in silence,
it is sharp, polished steel,
or perfect benevolence
carved in stone.
I rarely have a good word for contemporary poetry. However, if this is another one of yours, you really should keep it up. You’re quite good at it.
THanks. Flattery will get you everywhere!
I don’t flatter, I just tell the truth.
I know. I was kidding. Thanks for the compliment.
I don’t get it.
the poem’s all about nice people who smile nicely while they stab you in the back.
