It was my unusual privilege today to celebrate All Saints Day and All Souls Day on the same calendar day. One Saturday a month I take the Saturday duties at St Mary’s, and as it happened, I celebrated All Saints’ Day with a splendid solemn Mass at 10:00 and then heard confessions in the afternoon and celebrated the vigil of All Souls’ at 5:00.
Nice.

Father, I hope you take advantage of the opportunity to offer three Masses tomorrow for the Holy Dead. Also, if you have learned to celebrate the Usus Antiquior you can offer an additional three Masses on Monday as All Souls is transfered in the Calendar of 1962.
I don’t think an anticipated Mass of All Souls should have been celebrated. Since All Saints is a solemnity, 2nd Vespers of All Saints are said, not 1st Vespers of the Sunday, hence, as far as I understand the (incomplete) rubrics of the modern rite, the formulary of All Saints is to be used for all Masses on November 1st.
