It’s sweet that Blessed Carlo Acutis‘ relics were put on display for veneration today on the Memorial of St Therese of Lisieux.

She taught the little way of spiritual childhood and Bl. Carlo’s simple, child like devotion to miracles and the Blessed Sacrament was a similarly child-like example of trust and faith.

Pope Benedict XVI wrote, “The Scriptures can only be interpreted through the lives of the saints.” This observation has changed my life. I now search the Scriptures and read the lives of the saints more intently. It is true that time and again you read the life of a saint and your eyes are opened because in God’s great providence we can see that the saints live out particular verses and passages from the Scriptures.

Bl. Carlo and St Therese–along with St Jacinta and St Francisco Marto, Jose Sanchez del Rio, Dominic Savio, Bl Chiara Badano…all remind us of the beauty, trust and amazing courage of children and teenagers. They reveal in their lives the way all of us must walk in, fulfilling the verse from today’s gospel, “Unless you become as a little child you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.”

Bl. Carlo. St Therese.

ora pro nobis.
