This article from London’s Daily Telegraph shakes up the image of Sarah Palin as a goofy know-nothing redneck, and shows that she is a not a hick, but a slick and shrewd politician with ten years experience in the corridors of Alaskan power. Read it for another view.
Hick or Slick?

I think “Hick AND Slick” might have been the name of an article written about Bill Clinton (Remember the “slick willy” nickname he acquired?). Palin isn’t perfect. But I’ll take her on her worst day than Obama and that apostate Joe Biden on their best.
“The corridors of Alaskan power.” My goodness, I get goosebumps at the thought of such greatness. Bein mayor of Dogpatch hardly qualifies as a corridor of power, except perhaps in Seward’s Folly. Give it up. She hasn’t the slightest bit of experience to qualify her for the office. The very fact that she was nominated makes a mockery of the whole process.
I enjoyed the article. I would like to be more positive about her.I have lived in Indian-Casino teritory before. Such mafia laden rats nests are indeed corridors of power in my mind, even in small towns.I am holding out for the debates and interviews. Punditry, pro or con will not impress me. Speeches with a teleprompter will not impress me. A VP nominee hiding from Meet the Press and Tom Brokaw scares me.

Is Augustine the next rude jerk? Very charitable, aren’t you Augustine?
Quod erat demonstrandum.

Sorry there Augustine. I suppose my reply wasn’t particularly charitable either so I deleted it. However, I do think that whatever parallel your drawing between me and Hastings is something of a stretch.
Sorry about the uncalled-for jab at you.No hard feelings from this end.
