One of the criticisms I have had from the hundreds of emails from strangers this week is, “Why do you always keep going on and on about abortion? Why do you never talk about any of the other sins?”
Mind you, these are from people who don’t know me, don’t know Fr Newman, never heard us preach, don’t know our writings, don’t really know our political views and really, I’m afraid, know nothing at all about us.
But anyhow, here begins a series of images that speak for themselves. This diamond encrusted mobile phone costs $100,000.00
Caption competition? List the deadly sins it represents…
$100,000.00 = how many babies?
“Guilt? Please. It’s a phone, not an abortion.”
Tempus fugit—memento mori.
WELL, JUST FOR STARTERS – Greed is a many splendid things.Highway Robbery for dumbies.Pride goeth before the fall.Doncha think I’m sexy? One diamond = one hundred thousand little souls.
“I’m personally opposed to avarice, but . . .”
Oops! I dropped it! Well, “sic transit gloria mundi!”
It’s 3 Am and Planned Parenthood is calling the White House….
“It’s ll o’clock; do you know where your children are?”
Of course the real cellphone is in my safe deposit box.
Hello Satan, can you hear me now?
You might remember me from such cell-phone camera films as: Rich Boring Folks with Nothing Better To Do, and: Where am I, is This Hell?

Pride and Greed in that order.“Because you’re worth it, and you want it!”
I’m not opposed to wealthy people having nice things if they can afford it. I like going to museums and visiting estates that wouldn’t exist otherwise. But this? People who would spend $100,000 on a cell phone don’t deserve to have money.I think that Bob’s caption is perfect.
Thank you Father Longenecker for keeping the sin of abortion in the forefront. Of course, there are many, many sins, but the sin of abortion is truly a question of survival…will we survive? I pray so . . .
