I’d love to replace every self-congratulatory song in our music issue with that one. 🙂 “Forbid it, Lord, that I should boast!”A Catholic convert (it happened to be James White’s sister) was asked by a Protestant why she wore a crucifix– it was bugging the Protestant that she put such emphasis on the suffering and death of Jesus. The Catholic answered her with this hymn and the Protestant was satisfied:Lest I forget GethsemaneLest I forget Thine agonyAnd lest I forget Thy love to meLead me to Calvary.
Possibly my favorite hymn. Thank you, Isaac Watts.

Another good response to Protestant criticism of crucifixes is to quote St Paul:”We preach Christ, and him crucified.”
“We preach Christ, and him crucified.”I’ll remember this.
