Atheist to Catholic convert: How nice for you. Since you’re a Catholic you don’t have to think about the meaning of life. Just believe whatever the Pope tells you.
Catholic convert to Atheist: How nice for you. Since you’re an atheist you don’t have to think about the meaning of life since for you there is no meaning to life.
Atheist: How can you believe in some invisible energy force somewhere out there in the sky?
Catholic convert: Do you use electricity?
Atheist: Why your particular God and not Thor, Isis, Kali, Krishna, Buddha or umpteen other gods?
Catholic convert: Buddha’s not a god, but even the followers of those pagan religions realize those other ‘gods’ are not the One.
Atheist: Your religion, with it’s Sugar Daddy in the sky who gives you eternal life is just wishful thinking for weaklings who are afraid of the dark. You’re just lying to yourself.
Catholic: My Heavenly Father is also my eternal judge. I will have to answer for all my choices and take responsibility for all my actions. I therefore might go to hell, not heaven. If I were thinking wishfully this is not what I would have wished for, and if the darkness of hell is eternal, don’t you think we should be afraid of it?
Atheist: I’m not afraid of the dark.
Catholic: Now who’s lying to himself?
Atheist: There is nothing after death. Its just the end. Nothing.
Catholic: That sounds like wishful thinking to me.
Well put. There’s absolutely nothing more depressing than the atheist view of the world. It is a world devoid of hope and most humans have an innate need to hope for a better tomorrow – in this world and the next. To rob us of those hopes and dreams could only be the work of the devil.
The common problem with most atheists is how they excuse themselves from any analysis of what has been written about God, about Christ, which has been accepted by so many over more than 2,000 years.
Atheists: Show me you read enough about Christ to analyze why he is so wrong as to be unworthy of any respect.
Atheists: Show me why St Augustine, St Thomas Aquinas, St Pope John Paul II and so many others are wrong and unworthy of any respect.
Simply saying, “There is no God” is intellectual laziness. Tell us why they got it wrong might have a chance.
