Katherine Ragsdale on the right on her 'wedding day' to the woman on the left

This article that a Planned Parenthood clinic is organizing 40 Days of Prayer for Abortion is shocking, but should not be. Remember that the majority of mainstream Protestant denominations are now “pro-Choice” and an increasing number of Evangelical churches that used to hold firm on abortion are silent or operate a “don’t ask don’t tell” policy.

If we want the mainstream Protestant view we only have to turn to the feminist leadership of the Episcopal Church. Katherine Hancock Ragsdale is Dean of Episcopal Divinity School near Harvard. She’s a lesbian who is on public record preaching that abortion is a blessing. Here are her words:

“When a woman wants a child but can’t afford one because she hasn’t the education necessary for a sustainable job, or access to health care, or day care, or adequate food, it is the abysmal priorities of our nation, the lack of social supports, the absence of justice that are the tragedies; the abortion is a blessing.

“And when a woman becomes pregnant within a loving, supportive, respectful relationship; has every option open to her; decides she does not wish to bear a child; and has access to a safe, affordable abortion – there is not a tragedy in sight — only blessing. The ability to enjoy God’s good gift of sexuality without compromising one’s education, life’s work, or ability to put to use God’s gifts and call is simply blessing.

“These are the two things I want you, please, to remember – abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Let me hear you say it: abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done. Abortion is a blessing and our work is not done.”

Pro life Christians need to understand that these people really do believe they are on a sacred mission from God. They really do believe that abortion is all about ‘women’s rights’ and ‘peace and justice’ and ‘relieving poverty’ and ‘helping the disadvantaged’. It’s a grim reminder that horrible irony that the worst evils in the world are perpetrated by self righteous do-gooders.

They have twisted the Gospel of Life into a perverted and blasphemous Gospel of Death. May God have mercy on their souls.

UPDATE: Meanwhile over here Tom McDonald rants happily about Melinda Gates’ support for the Culture of Death.
