Purgatory

Pictures speak a thousand words. Nevertheless, this is my first impression, my two cents worth.

The man is at the entrance of a door which, in all likelihood, opens to a comfortable home environment. But he cannot come in, yet, because he’s filthy or perhaps he’s still feeling some residual unworthiness, wondering if he’s disposed to coping with the new environment (being used to living alone in the streets).

Rays of light shines upon him, and he sits back and closes his eyes in peace, suggesting that the light has a cleansing effect on him. He’s cleansed of his filth, both literal and metaphorical, the latter referring to his doubts, fears, flaws and insecurities.
