pizzaA Go Fund Me account has been set up here to support the O’Connor family –the owners of Memories Pizza in Walkerton, Indiana.

It already stands at over $200K.

Why is this kind of gesture important?

Not because thousands of people are saying, “Yeh. We hate gays. We are in favor of discrimination!”

No. Those kind of irrational hate tactics, finding innocent victims and loud mouthed bullying is what the progressive media folks and liberal protesters are doing.

To support this Go Fund Me campaign is exactly how right thinking ordinary Americans should fight back.

No matter what people feel about the gay marriage debate we should all be horrified at the way this ordinary American family have been hounded into hiding, attacked by strangers and had their home and livelihood threatened.

If people are upset by the raging mob they should stand up…not with aggression and anger towards those who are aggressive and angry, but in quiet and generous support to some down home folks who have been wrongfully scapegoated by an increasingly frenzied and unthinking mob.

What should Christians do in the face of such hate?

Reach out to those who are wounded on both sides and offer reconciliation and good will and to do so with a dash of hard work, good humor and forgiveness.

I’m reminded of the Chick-Fil-A day a few years ago, when millions of ordinary Americans didn’t take to the streets protesting, raging and being aggressive and angry. They just went over to Chick-Fil-A for their lunch that day, met their neighbors and supported the family in a family based and wholesome way.

We can’t all go to Walkerton, Indiana to order a pizza, but we can do the next best thing.

We can pitch a few dollars into the hat to help them out.

So why  not go over to the campaign here and do what you can?
