I’ve never had that much time for Prince Charles. He always seemed to me to be rather spineless. However, he’s taken a stand now against the Islamic murderers who are persecuting Christians across the Middle East.

In this report from the Daily Telegraph we learn that he has gathered faith leaders together and spoken of the persecuted Christians in the Middle East as his “brothers and sisters in Christ.”

I have for some time now been deeply troubled by the growing difficulties faced by Christian communities in various parts of the Middle East,” he said.

“It seems to me that we cannot ignore the fact that Christians in the Middle East are increasingly being deliberately targeted by fundamentalist Islamist militants.”

In a reference to the Christmas story, he added: “Christianity was literally born in the Middle East and we must not forget our Middle Eastern brothers and sisters in Christ.

The problem of persecution of Christians is increasing around the world and it is not just radical Muslims in the Middle East. I encourage you to read John Allen’s The Global War on Christians: Dispatches from the Front Lines of Anti-Christian Persecution which outlines the growing threat to Christians in this new age of martyrdom.

What strikes me so strongly is that our brothers and sisters are being raped, tortured and killed. Their homes and villages and churches are being burnt. They are being driven from their homeland and the silence about these horrific human rights abuses is deafening. Not a word from the American president, or the propaganda machine of the mainstream media.
