Much has been written about the wonderful liturgy at St Mary’s Greenville, so I thought I would post this clip so you can see how things are done at the greatest parish in the Catholic Church.
This clip shows our parish worship leader singing the psalm at our Hispanic Mass. Notice the stunning tabernacle on the sanctuary stage. Notice also the discreet and modest (yet contemporary) liturgical garment she is wearing. The accompanying singers indicate the correct level of clergy involvement in the liturgy and are discreetly placed behind the lead singer, whoops, I mean parish worship leader.
Dressed in tuxedos that indicate that they are one of the people, yet still separate from them, you see Fr Newman, Fr Bart and myself, in the background, playing the supporting liturgical roles.
This exciting video shows the liturgical standards we must all aim for if we are to be truly American Catholics.
That’s uhhh that’s uhhh.Wow.Actually, if you’re ever in Chicago, you should stop by the cathedral. The woodwork is INCREDIBLE – absolutely beautiful, but you should check out the spaceship tabernacle in the back to the left (it’s hard to recognize, though not exactly hard to spot). I’m sad to say that I couldn’t find a photo in less than 30 seconds of searching. After that, you should check out the Adoration chapel at St. Stanislaus Kostka (http://www.amothersplea.org/), which is pretty stinking cool.
Still chuckling.
Not to mention the understated-yet-elegant toupees worn by you and by Fr. Newman; truly the acme of clerical vesture. :-)Seriously, great post!Peace,–Peter
And you thought you were in trouble LAST week?!!
Very funny, but if you want to see an actual abomination, you should check out a video posted at the American Papist blog. http://www.americanpapist.com/2008/11/video-austrian-cardinal-participates-in.htmlIt makes LIFETeen seem like the Tridentine Mass.

You owe me an apology father! You made me laugh out loud at work! Too funny!
I thought that was a southwestern American Evangelical service!I don’t care who you are…THAT was funny!;)Paz de Cristo!
Remarkable. There’s nothing like a reverent, solemn, worshipful service to bring us all into harmony with Our Lord.Yep, nothing like it at all.
This is the way my old parish out west did the mass. Seeing this brings tears to my eyes…
What can I say but… ROFL!
This is where fiction and reality blur together. What the *@#& was that?
Oh father, father, father, what can be said about this one? Someone’s been at Fr. Newman’s chasubles with a pair of scissors…www.youtube.com/watch?v=rOsPNUpmxjgAnd you’ve forced my hand, I was holding this one for a Christmas bombshell but, behold, Fr. Smith just before he was transferred: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1q48UNn02Iw1969 was truly a bizarre year for Eurovision, and that’s saying a lot. As it happens I’ve managed to set Vivo Cantando as a ringtone for whenever my wife calls me.
