You can read here about a Dutchman who has built a replica of Noah’s Ark. It’s huge, but only 1/5 of the size of the real thing. He’s filled it with models of animals and a wax figure of an exhausted Noah stretched out for a nap.

I can remember being brought up in a fundamentalist church, being enthralled by the seemingly endless number of books and films that came out about the search for Noah’s Ark on Mount Ararat.

Funny how the Protestants have their own relics. The search for Noah’s Ark, the tantalizing scraps of legend, evidence and sightings–none of which will ever really be proved–are a bit like the Shroud of Turin, the Titulus Crucis etc. for Catholics. There’s always just enough evidence to make you believe for a moment, then a scientist comes along with ‘foolproof’ evidence to disprove the relic. Then another scientist comes along with more evidence that casts doubt on the foolproof evidence.

I love this stuff, if for no other reason than that it annoys the chattering classes.
