Kings College Cambridge

For two years as a young Anglican priest I had the privilege of serving as chaplain to Kings’ College Cambridge Choir School.

This is the prep school where the choristers of the famous Kings College choir are educated. It was my job to help mentor and chaperone them as well as teach religion and English.

One of the highlights was to receive my annual four tickets either for the Advent Lessons and Carols or the Christmas Eve Festival of Carols.

Each year the carols are different, but every year the service begins with one boy chorister singing the first verse of Once in Royal David’s City.

Enjoy this video of the ceremony for Christmas Eve.

As I head out to my parish here in South Carolina for the round of Christmas masses I wish all my readers a most happy and peaceful Christmas Day.
