A commenter asks if I ever write film reviews professionally. When I left the Anglican ministry I trained as a scriptwriter. I then had a job as script editor of a little video production company and made a couple of short films and wrote TV scripts and a couple of movie scripts (which didn’t get made I hasten to add) On the strength of this I was then film reviewer for an English paper for a couple of years and have dabbled in film stuff since. At present I write a regular column for StAR magazine and will soon compile those essays on film into another book. I’m also working on a film script set in Elizabethan England and have several other film ‘treatments’ in the bottom drawer for the day that I get that call from Hollywood…
