I can’t believe how abundantly blessed we are in Greenville, South Carolina. As Catholics we enjoy a genuine center of Catholic culture that is thriving.

One of the areas of growth is Catholic art. Sculptor, painter and potter Jim Craft happens to be my brother in law. He’s a fellow Bob Jones graduate and a retired professor of art history and ceramics. He’s already made some great contributions to the new Our Lady of the Rosary Church, but now, in honor of the upcoming canonization of Cardinal Newman we’ve commissioned him to produce a bust of Newman which will be the focus of a shrine to the new saint.

This is the first photograph of the work in progress. From the clay sculpture Jim is planning to produce a mould and castings of both the full bust and a low relief of just the face. These will be available in resin, cast stone and bronze.

I’m really excited about producing the shrine of Saint John Henry Newman, and I’ll keep you posted about further progress on this project, and how you can be in touch with Jim Craft in case you wish to create a similar shrine at your church.
